Variety.com is reporting that Kirsten has signed on for upcoming film “On The Road”. The film is based on the classic 1957 novel by Jack Kerouac. The book is based on Kerouac’s years traveling the North American continent with his friend Neal Cassady & tells the story of Sal Paradise & Dean Moriarty as they roam the country in a quest for self-knowledge & experience.Producer Frances Ford Coppola has owned the film rights to the book for over 30 years & has previously made several unsuccessful attempts to get this project off the ground. The film will be directed by Walter Salles, who directed “The Motorcycle Diaries”, & who has been pencilled in to direct the film since 2005. The script is being written by “Motorcycle Diaries” screenwriter Jose Rivera.Already confirmed to appear in the film are Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley & Kristen Stewart.Kirsten was first linked with this film in 2007 when it was rumoured she would be playing the part of Camille (a character based on Jack Kerouac’s wife Carolyn Cassady). It appears that this is still the role she will be playing in the film. Filming is due to start in August this year, which would overlap with filming of Kirstens other rumoured film “Meloncholia”. We await with interest to see how things pan out
