“Bastard”, the short film directed by Kirsten, had it’s world premiere last night at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The film was shown as part of the “Between The Lines” series of short films being screened during the festival. Kirsten attended the premiere, as did actor Brian Geraghty who stars in the film.I’ve added some pics of Kirsten arriving at the premiere to the gallery. Apologies for the late/small update today. Short films by thesps Kirsten Dunst & James Franco will be closing this year’s Cannes Critics’ Week, announced the festival today in Paris. Dunst’s 6 minute short, “Bastard”, stars Brian Geraghty, Juno Temple & Lukas Haas, & depicts a couple who wind up in a desert motel where they’re met by three men for mysterious reasons. Franco’s “The Clerk’s Tale” is the thesp’s third short to date, & is based on a poem of the same title by Spencer Reese. Franco’s backstage docu “Saturday Night” recently bowed at the South by Southwest film festival. Both films will screen May 20th in Cannes. Kirsten is rumoured to have taken on the lead role in “Melancholia”. The film, which will be directed by the infamous Lars von Trier, will shoot from July through to September in Southern Sweden. “Melancholia” is described by the director as a “sci-fi psychological disaster movie” & will also star Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlotte Rampling, Alexander Skarsgaard, Stellan Skarsgaard and Udo Kier. In other movie news “Bastard” (the short film directed by Kirsten) is reported to have been accepted as an entrant in the short films category at the Cannes Film Festival. The film will have it’s World Premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 23rd.
